Julian Casablancas dot Com

This is the website of my favorite singer/songwriter and one of the most important figures in Indie music.
He is the lead singer of The Strokes.
The creator of Cult Records.
Has his own solo career.
Has done collaborations with The Lonely Island, Danger Mouse, Daft Punk, and Regina Spektor to name a few.
I’d recommend you keep tabs on this gentleman, if you care about Indie.

Indie blogging is great

Image

I have enjoyed Indie blogging. I actually find it to be more fulfilling than Facebook. I tend to use my Facebook as a blog page, and that’s not a good idea because I hate Facebook (Kind of) and don’t trust it. I think one day Facebook will take everything I’ve ever said, good or bad, and destroy it. Facebook, in relation to Indie, raises many ethical questions. On one hand it is Indie because anyone can get on there and put up practically anything..on the other hand it is run by a privacy destroying corporation. I think as long as you keep that in mind it’s okay, or better yet, do this. Open up a WordPress account and post to your hearts content with a lot less hatred flowing around. (If you didn’t know, almost everyone in Texas is an open racist, just go to any Texas politicians Facebook page. It’s horrifying)

CAKE With All Capitals Is Wary Of Capitalism

The band CAKE formed in 1991 in Sacramento, CA. They are one of the most influential figures in indie music and embody the fighting side of the genre more than any other band. They denote capitalism, especially in regards to American society and in the music industry.

Here are tweets, facebooks, song meanings, live Cake performances, and even a cover by yours truly.

They are a must for any American, music lover, or human being in general.
